Showerlay line

Hello, could you please tell me, how long for delivery showerlay linear 800x1000  £ 299.99 to London NW6. I would need it for Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Is it difficult to tile it? Thank you. Kind regards Katie . . .

Dear Katie,

Unfortunately 800 x 1000 is not one of our standard size, we could manufacture custom  shower tray, it would be slightly more expensive and we would need few more days to produce and deliver.

Alternatively you might want to buy Showerlay 1000 x 1000 mm Line and then trim it. That's very easily and can be done with regular handsaw, doesn't do any harm to the tray. Only requirement is to trim equal bits off each side to make sure that pre-machined tray is preserved.

As it's one of our standard sizes, it is available off-the-shelf, so if you order it today before noon you will probably receive it tomorrow. Shipping confirmation will be sent just after it's in transit, with tracking details so you will be able to predict it's arrival on your own.

In case you need anything I will be happy to help.

Kind regards,

David

We have a concrete subfloor, on which we intend to use 75mm insulation where the shower tray will be installed, with liquid screed on top. We can go for 47mm thick screed, which with the 28mm thick tray would bring it to the same height as the 100mm . . .

Hello Steve,

Thank you for your question.

You can either install the tray at it's future destination (if that's possible) and screed around or do the shuttering off and screeding. If mounting the tray at appropriate level before screeding is not possible, you should shutter the area off, fill with concrete and then insert the tray, with grooving some space if needed.

The tray is suitable for mosaic floor as long as it's not smaller than 10 mm x 10 mm. Having the small mosaic tiles not aligned perfectly with the slopes of the tray is not an issue, there will still be difference in height of the tray on the edges and near the drain, so water will still flow towards the drain.

I will be happy to answer if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Hi, our bathroom has a concrete floor and will be insulated with 100mm kingsman and then 50mm screed. Would it be best to construct a timber frame etc to site the tray former on before the floor is finished, I.e shutter the tray size within the insu . . .

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

There are 2 ways to install the tray, first most common one is to have it installed flushed with rest of the floor. The tray itself doesn't need insulation boards as it is based on XPS which is material providing great insulation itself.

Alternatively you can create a frame that the tray would sit onto. This may be a better solution if you prefer the same insulation under the tray as under rest of the floor. However in this case, you would have a step up, which most people want to avoid.

Many thanks for being interested in our products.

Hi, I'm planning on using your Showerlay Wiper shower tray for the shower, and your Imperboards for the rest of the room's floor and walls, to create a walk in shower/wet room. Can I just tape the joints and corners using your sealing tape and tanki . . .

Hi Stuart,

We recommend to go for tanking tape and tanking liquid, which can also be used as adhesive to stick those tapes.

It is advisable to tank the whole floor and at least 500 mm up the walls from the floor.

You could also just tank the shower area and all the connections.

For any of the above using waterproofing kit will be a good idea.

Kind regards

shower tray invisable can i remove drain cover for cleaning if it is not suitable can i return it

Dear Marion,

Showerlay Invisible drain grating can be removed even after installation is complete for cleaning purposes. After lifting the grate you will have access to siphon trap which can be simply opened and cleaned.

Regarding right for return - you can purchase the product and you have 30 days to send the product back in order to receive a full refund. Please notice that complete product needs to be returned, you cannot install the tray and return only the drain grate. Additionally, Invisible is the only drain type without exchangeable cover, you won't be able to swap it with different pattern.

If you have any other questions I will be happy to answer them.

Could you tell me the measurment from the top of the board to the drain channel on the (Showerlay Wiper 900 x 1200 mm Line Mistral)

Dear Simon,

As a standard, the distance from the upper shower tray edge to the upper drain edge is 150 mm and 192 mm from the top of the tray to the centre of the integrated channel.

Outlet is centred between both channel edges. You can view technical drawing on the product page of linear drain which is integrated with this tray: Linear drain Premium Mistral 600 mm.

We can create custom shower tray for you, with different drain position (even centred) but we would need approximately 3 business days to manufacture and it would also be more expensive.

Please let me know if you need more details about this and I will be happy to assist.

Is the siphon trap and drain included with the wet-room-kit-800-x-1200-line-sirocco?

Dear Jim,

I would like to confirm that suitable McAlpine siphon trap with pipe is included to this wet room kit. It is completely rotatable and it's pipe height can be adjusted so it gives flexibility to avoid the joists. It features flow rate of 26 l/min and water seal of 20 mm which prevents the air from getting back into the shower.

For the price visible on the product page you receive:

- XPS foam base with pre-machined fall from every corner of the tray to every corner of the drain, reinforced with fibre glass mesh and cement based glue,

- integrated and waterproofed stainless steel channel,

- grating pattern (6 available) - no impact on price nor on performance,

- McAlpine siphon trap with pipe,

Optionally you can include the waterproofing kit to your order, which is very useful especially for timber floor but also recommended for concrete floor.

Is 900 a wide or length of the tray? Thank you

Dear Customer,

900 mm is the dimension which is the drain parallel to. 600 mm long linear drain is positioned across that 900 mm long edge. Please check the techncial diagram below and it should explain everything:

wet room kit 900 x 1700 technical drawing

If you have any other questions I will be happy to assist.

I purchased your pure linear drain shower tray last year and I am only getting round to installing it now. I will have to bring the level up with backer board to get the tile up to the drain. What is best practice for applying the backer boards over . . .

Dear Customer,

Tile backer boards need to have proper thickness. Distance from the shower tray surface to the top edge of the vertical frame of integrated drain is fixed, 15 mm, so is the maximum thickness for all your material that is going to be fitted on top of it. If your tiles are for example 8 mm, then 6 mm tile backer board should be used and 1 mm layer of tile adhesive.

Boards need to be cut diagonally, to match the angle of the premachined slopes on top of the shower tray. Backer boards can be stuck to the shower tray with tile adhesive, as the tray is covered with material that connects to tile adhesive well on both sides.

Hope that helps, if you have any questions I will be happy to assist.

Can shower tray be made measure?

Dear Customer,

I can confirm that we can create custom shower tray made to size, it would cost more and we would need more time to deliver (6 business days) but yes, we can basically create any shower tray which is smaller than 2000 mm x 1200 mm. It will probably cost more approximately £50 more than standard shower tray of similar specification.

Please send us dimensions, thickness, drain position, it's style and if you require any waterproofing kit to our email: shop@wetroomsdesign.co.uk. I will prepare proper technical diagram, quote and will reply with all the necessary details.

I am happy to help in case of any questions.

Hi mum is now disabled I have to install a wet room ...her bathroom now is a 1700 £ —900 bath shower a toilet and basin total room size 5m2 on a concrete floor could you please advise me on what I will need for this job Thanks Graham Dewey . . .

Dear Graham,

I am sorry to hear about your mom, we've got an article that you might find interesting: 3 More Benefits of a Walk In Shower When You Have Mobility Issues.

Regarding your query, 900 x 1700 is one of our standard wet room kit size. They are available in versions with Linear or Square drain. Basically after buying them you will receive everything you need: 900 x 1700 premachined board (falls from every corner of the tray to every corner of the drain) integrated stainless steel channel, grating pattern (6 available) and suitable McAlpine waste siphon trap.

In addition, you can choose to include the waterproofing kit. Each kit increases the price by £59, so if you went for 6m2˛, it would cost additional £118 total. With the waterproofing kit, you have everything you need to fit the wet room kit and seal it, after doing this it's ready for tiling.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

Hi, can I trim this tray to the smaller size? I require 1120 mm x 820 mm in my wet room.

Dear Customer,

Our wet room kits are based on XPS material, which is flexible and can be safely trimmed. This can be done with a regular handsaw, is very easy and does not do any damage to the shower tray.

There's one recommendation from us, if you want to cut for example 100 mm off each dimension, you would need to take equal bits off each side 50 mm from the top and 50 from the bottom as it has premachined slopes towards the drain which need to be preserved.

800 x 1200 shower tray can be shortened down to a minimum size of 600 x 1000 mm.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

Adam 017 0927 3601

Can this tray be cut? Need 1200x700 tray

Dear Customer,

I can confirm that this product can be shortened to size or cut to avoid obstacles. 800 x 1200 mm shower tray can be shortened to a minimum size of 660 x 1000 mm.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

Can electric underfloor heating be used on this product?

Dear Customer,

I confirm that our shower trays are suitable with underfloor heating if it's fitted on top of them.

They are based on XPS foam which is great insulator, therefore if UFH was installed under them, it would provide only limited warmth. Floor on top of the tray would not be as warm as on the rest of the room.

Please notice that the tray has 15 mm lip and that's the space you have to accomodate your tiles, UFH and tile adhesive. You should check how thick are your tiles and UFH if together are less than 15 mm it should be fine to be used on our tray.

Kind regards

Can this former be trimmed.

Dear Rich,

Yes, that's one of feature of those trays. You can use a handsaw to trim them down to size or to avoid obstacles such as uneven walls or corners.

900 x 900 mm tray can be shorten down to a minimum size of 760 x 760, although if you wanted to trim it to be smaller than 800 x 800, then I would recommend to go for 800 x 800 mm wet room tray instead, as it's also one of our standard size.

If you wanted to avoid obstacles it's fine to cut only from one side, however if you wanted to shorten it down to let's say 850 x 850, you should take 25 mm from each side, so pre-machined slopes towards the drain are preserved.

Please notice that we can also supply custom sizes. Let us know what's your shower area and we will reply with the best solution for yourself.

I am happy to assist if you have any further questions.

Kind Regards

I am looking at a 1600 long former with linear drain. Would the 20mm depth produce enough fall for that length? Also is the fall degree the same in all depth of trays?

Dear Alasdair,

Yes. Even 20 mm thick tray provides sufficient slope for free water flow. We have tested that even with 0.5% of slope water will still be drained, while the tray has approximately 20 mm. However thicker tray provides more slope so if you're planning to have plenty of water going through your shower area it may be a good idea to choose a thicker one.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

Kind regards

We should be able to deliver them on next business day (Monday) if you order them soon today.

If you require more than few, please let me know how many and I will reply with our quotation and information about possible delivery date.

David 020 7193 0953

Can this tray be cut down to 1100mm wide?

Dear Spence,

I can confirm that each side of this tray can be cut down to 1100 mm. It is best to take equal bits from each opposite side to preserve premachined slope of the tray.

It can be easily done with a regular handsaw.

Alternatively we could offer a bespoke tray with those exact dimensions, but it would cost more and have increased delivery time.

Let me know if you are interested and I will reply with further details.

Kind regards
