WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel is a type of steel with significantly increased corrosion resistance. The most commonly used steel in sanitary appliances (eg. in shower drains, floor drains, handrails, dispensers, etc.) is type 304 characterized by low carbon content, as well as an admixture of chromium and nickel. On the surface of the stainless steel, an oxide coating forms naturally, which is a barrier that protects against water, air and detergents. Thanks to the lack of pores, the stainless steel surface is very hygienic and easy to keep clean. However, contrary to the name, such steel can also corrode. Usually, it occurs only with small spots of rust as a result of deep damage and improper care. Therefore, it is important to use appropriate cleaning products and methods.
WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE STAINLESS STEEL PRODUCTS?
Despite the higher price than competing plastic products, metal products are definitely better choice in terms of economics. Thanks to their resistance to damage and rough conditions, stainless steel durability outclasses competition. In addition, bathroom accessories made of stainless steel have an extremely elegant and timeless look.
CLEANING
The natural agents most often used for cleaning stainless steel are, for example, vinegar, baking soda or ammonia solutions. With other agents present in every home, it is worth to mention ordinary liquid soap or glass cleaners (they often contain vinegar or alcohol, which will cope well with lighter dirt). For heavier dirt and regular cleaning it is worthwhile to buy a dedicated stainless steel product and follow the manufacturer's instructions. For scrubbing you can use soft cloths, preferably microfibres, sponges, and for hard to reach places use brushes with natural or artificial fiber. Avoid agents containing chlorine and bleaches, as well as steel wool cleaners, which will most likely completely destroy the steel surface.
STAINLESS STEEL SHOWER DRAINS
One of the most practical applications of stainless steel in the bathroom are floor drains (linear, square, etc.). Present on the market for years, they are great for walk-in type wetroom showers. The trouble-free, long-term use and easy maintenance please even the most demanding users.
