Preparation of substrate

Immediately after setting the tiles rake joints clean to a uniform depth corresponding to the thickness of the tile. Allow adhesive to set.

Application procedure

  1. Pour gauging water (see mixing table) in a clean container. Add PCI Nanofug Premium and mix with a suitable paddle (e.g. from Collomix) attached to an electric drill until a plastic and lump-free consistency is obtained.
  2. Leave to stand for approx. 3 minutes and re-mix.
  3. Work grout into the joints using a rubber grouting float and allow to set. Grout one more time if necessary to achieve a flush joint. After the grout has set (finger test) clean tiles with a slightly damp sponge or sponge float.
  4. When the grout is dry remove the remaining film on the tiles with a damp sponge.

Please note:

  • Do not apply at temperatures below +5 °C and above +25°C or under exposure to direct heat, wetness and draught.
  • Higher temperatures reduce, lower temperatures increase the working time. Cover newly grouted areas outdoors with a foil to protect the surface from direct sunlight and strong draught.
  • Any underfloor heating must be switched off when grouting and during the curing process (min. 24 hours).
  • Should a white film remain visible on the ceramic tiles after hardening it can be removed after 2 to 3 days with the acidic cement stain remover PCI Zementschleier-Entferner sauer. Prewet joints and tiles thoroughly and wash with lots of water after cleaning. See the technical data sheet no. 816 for the application of PCI Zementschleier-Entferner sauer.
  • The joint might be affected when being intensively exposed to acidic cleaning agents or/and long action time of cement-attacking media. The joints should be thoroughly prewet before cleaning and washed off with lots of water after cleaning.
  • When grouting non-slip tiles or floor coverings with a rough surface the grout film must be thoroughly removed while still fresh (carry out trial grouting and/or trial cleaning).
  • In case of polished fully vitrified tiles, colour pigments might solidify in the micropores possibly found in the surface of the tile. We therefore advise against an intense colour contrast between tile and joint. In case of doubt carry out trial grouting.
  • We recommend to use a non-woven cloth to wash sharp-edged tiles.
  • It might require a higher effort when using the colour black.
  • Prevent PCI Nanofug from overflowing into perimeter joints and adjoining areas by taking appropriate measures such as placing temporary barrier strips before grouting. Remove strips before applying the elastic sealant. Seal joints between tiles, fitted elements and pipe culverts as well as corner joints and connection joints with the elastic sealant PCI Silcofug E or PCI Silcoferm S, use PCI Elritan 100 for facades.
  • We recommend to use the same batch number for the same project.
  • The original colour may change when mixing PCI Nanofug Premium with silica sand.
  • Never add water or wet grout and/or powder to reconstitute a grout mix which has already begun to set.
  • Do not use a dry cloth for cleaning as staining might be caused when rubbing hardened grout into the damp joint.
  • Grouting in swimming pools should be carried out with PCI Durafug NT or PCI Durapox NT/NT plus. Please contact the PCI Technical help-line.
  • Use PCI Durafug NT to grout in potable water tanks.
  • Shelf life: min. 12 months when stored in dry conditions, no permanent storage over +30°C.
  • Suitable tools are available from e.g. Collomix GmbH, Horchstraße 2, 85080 Gaimersheim/Germany, www.collomix.de.
  • Clean tools with water immediately after use; once cured product can only be removed by mechanical scraping.
