Often considering the choice of individual elements for our new bathroom, we want everything to match one another. The easiest way to achieve this cohesion effect is by choosing a main theme for the entire room. One of them may be a rustic motif, a simple, old-fashioned, rural climate. It doesn't mean that you have to use old materials or used furniture. This effect can be obtained also with modern products, but the best solution may turn out to be self-made decor elements.
FURNITURE
The simplest to buy or make element of rustic decor will be the cabinet under the sink. It's best if it's made of raw wood. It can be made to look old in many ways or just painted white. It may also be a good idea to make such a cabinet from old recycled wood. Add simple furniture hinges and retro handles and our stylish rustic cabinet is ready. In a similar way, we can make shelves for towels or other bathroom accessories. If you do not have the conditions or willingness to build furniture by yourself, you can order to have it done by professionals or buy such a piece of furniture straight form a designer. However, you have to reckon with significantly increased costs.
WASHBASINS
An interesting way of exposing the true rustic design may be the resignation of the classic ceramic sink. We have several options to choose from instead. If we want to get an amazing western like effect, we can use the old tin bowl as a sink. You can still find such treasures at the flea markets. Another great choice may be to buy a copper washbasin. In the case of such a choice, it is worth thinking about other copper elements such as a stylish copper tap, towel holders or toilet paper holder. Another material that excellently matches the rustic style is stone. Stone sinks are gaining more and more popularity and their availability is growing, so we should not have a problem with the purchase.
WALLS AND FLOOR
In the case of walls, we also have some choice. We can leave a bare brick wall or paint bricks white. The brick will give the room unique severity and simplicity. If our building is not made out of bricks or we do not like that appearance, we can use an artificial stone on one of the walls. Such a wall combined with a stone or copper washbasin and a wooden cabinet will create a great composition. As for the floor, here also we have a good selection of finish materials. Manufacturers offer floor tiles imitating both wood and stone. But, nothing prevents you from using natural wood or stone. However, in this case too, you have to reckon with the increased costs and more difficult to maintain floor. It may be a hit to use natural stone as a floor finish in your wetroom shower.
LIGHTING AND ACCESSORIES
Last but not least element is the proper lighting of our raw rustic bathroom. Warm bulb-like light should dominate. In radical cases of austere decoration, we can use electric candle lamps or candles itself. Small green potted plants and, for example, wicker baskets would be a magnificent addition to such a decor.
