Shower Screens - FAQs

What size shower screen should I get?

To get splash protection, choose a screen width that balances water containment with entry and exit. For example 600-700mm gives enough space with minimal splashing, but if you have the space 800mm or more will give even better water containment.

How much shower entrance space do I need?

For comfortable access leave an entrance gap of 500-600mm. This gives you enough room to move in and out of the shower and still keep the water in the shower area.

What are the recess options?

If you’re recessing the screen (between walls) aim for a screen width that leaves an entrance gap of around 500-600mm. For example in a 1700mm space a 1100mm shower screen screen works well. This gives good access and water containment.

What are corner installation options for shower screens?

In corner installations you can position the screen along one side, entering from the shorter or longer side. For example in a 1700 x 700mm layout a 1400mm shower screen along the 1700mm side contains the water, and adding a second panel on the other side prevents splashing.

What are return panels? Do I need one?

A return panel is a smaller glass panel attached at 90 degrees to the main screen. Return panels, fixed or hinged, improve water containment. Hinged ones can open in or out, gives flexibility and allows for a wider screen without limiting entrance space.

What shower screen options work best for mobility and wheelchair accessibility?

For wheelchair access consider a wider screen of at least 800mm, with enough open space for easy entry and exit. Return panels, especially hinged ones, can be helpful as they give flexibility to widen the entrance when needed. Corner or walk-through installations can also give more freedom of movement for those with mobility issues.

What accessories are available for shower screens?

Shower screens come with wall mounted fixings but you can choose alternative installations like ceiling mounted arms or angled supports. Additional accessories like hooks for towels and support feet can also be added to your shower setup.
