What Mistakes Should Be Avoided When Arranging A Bathroom

A properly laid out bathroom, or what to avoid during the arrangement.

Usually, our bathrooms do not have too much space to arrange. Often, we decide on small bathrooms in favour of another rooms. To avoid the feeling of overwhelmed, do not make basic mistakes. Combine functionality with aesthetics to ensure the comfort of the home users.

IMPROPER FINISHING

Dark tiles and bright grouts can be problematic. After many years, the grouts are gray and the dirt is clearly visible on them. If you decide on tiles in your bathroom, choose bright ones with a slight gloss, because usually you can not see dust and stains on them and additionally enlarge the optic space. The grouts should not be a contrast for the tiles to avoid overwhelming the room. It's better to choose bright ones but not white ones. On the floor it is ideally to use non-slip ceramics to prevent slipping in wet rooms. When deciding on the texture of tiles, it is worth remembering that tiles with concavities and protrusions are more non-slip than tiles that are completely smooth. It is better to firstly choose the furniture and match the glaze to them, than vice versa.

EQUIPMENT

An important element is to adjust the height of bathroom equipment elements to the people using it, so if you are a tall person, remember to install a sink or shower slightly higher than the standard height. This solution will guarantee you comfort while using.

VENTILATION

Due to the high humidity of the air, the bathroom should be constantly ventilated. In small rooms (capacity up to 5.5 m³) it is enough to use gravity ventilation. Mechanical ventilation, which supports the exchange of air using fans, should be used in larger bathrooms. In order for the air to flow through the entire room, the ventilation grilles should be mounted as far as possible from the entrance door. To support ventilation, choose a bathroom door that will be highly undercut or with a ventilation cage for constant air exchange. Without effective ventilation on the walls or fixtures over time, unsightly mold stains appear and their development threatens our health.

FIRST IMPRESSION

After opening the bathroom door, it's good to see something nicer than a toilet seat. At this point, a washbasin with a mirror will work, which will make the room look larger, and additional lighting will elegantly decorate this zone.

OPEN SHELVES

If you plan to open the shelves in the bathroom, use them only for cosmetics or decorations, set at a wide spacing from each other. Avoid placing many products on such shelves, because you automatically make the room tight and look like there is no space in it. The nightmare of open shelves is the constantly accumulating dust. If possible, hide the shelves stuffed with cosmetics and accessories in closed cabinets or drawers. We have many storage solutions available. The washing machine can be built-in with a shelf in which all detergents can be hidden. In the shower you can mount a glass or waterproof towel rack.

NONFUNCTIONAL SPACE

If you have little space in the bathroom, instead of a bathtub, opt for a shower with a glass cover. The washing machine move to the kitchen or even to the hall. Plan the location of larger equipment items (shower) at the end of the bathroom and a small one, such as a toilet seat or bidet as close as possible to the door, for convenient access to individual devices.

Take advantage of the potential of a place in the bathroom that will serve all household members. Devices that will fulfill several different functions will be helpful in arranging. An uncomfortable niche should be built in with shelves, instead of a bathtub, a shower should be placed, and a thick wall may be an opportunity to create additional shelf or a storage box for cosmetics.
